I RC-Rules
Rules for IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
You do not need to read the explanations, but you must read all the Numbered Lines.
-
No Direct Degrading Insults
-
Explanation:
-
Each and every person that comes here has the potential to do great things. Sometimes the road to get to that point is long and hard. We always must maintain a level of respect for each other on that road. The point of D$M is to help us stay on the road to success. Making someone feel small or degrading them will simply go against every thing D$M stands for.
-
Example:
-
Bad: You are an Idiot!!!
-
Good: You are frustrating me. I am going to take a break from this now.
-
Guests are NOT allowed to Private Message anyone with out first requesting and receiving permission to do so in a Public channel.
-
Explanation:
-
We work as a team. We cannot efficiently help you if we are not all able to monitor the progress on any given issue, as well as the fact you have no way of knowing who is better suited to help you with a problem. The Admins need to monitor how problems are being resolved and the general attitude of the people involved. We cannot do this if you are not speaking openly. The public Help channels are designed to receive open chat help. So do not be afraid to speak up.
-
This is not a bar, please do not come in asking people for thier personal information like ASL (Age/Sex/Location) or we will ban you. Repeated offenses or public displays of affection might cause dma to eat your face off.
-
When receiving help: Take Notes, Read All Text, Let us know when you do not understand, DO NOT make us repeat ourselves.
-
Explanation:
-
Take Notes: If you are in a Web Browser they crash a lot and you will lose your record of the chat. Or worse, you may think you will remember what you were told, but it is disrespectful to come back and ask someone to repeat themselves because you could not be bothered to take notes, even though they took the time to help you.
-
Read All Text: When we pass you information it is for a reason. Sometimes people forget this and start skipping things that do not make sense right away. All of the sudden it seems to us like you are reading every other line.
-
Let us know when you do not understand: Again, if we tell you some thing it is for a reason. If you do not understand it please LET US KNOW! We understand that many concepts are difficult to grasp and we all learn differently. We will not curse you for it. We will get a bit annoyed if you act like you understand and then because you do not go off on some strange tangent.
-
DO NOT make us repeat ourselves: Well if you have followed the above notes then this should not be a problem should it?
-
Example:
-
Mind you TheFatherMind had to say this 3 times before he finally actually did it.
-
[13:38] <@TheFatherMind> [13:15] <@TheFatherMind> Wammy: complete this Web Page How-To: Wiki Quick Lesson
-
[13:39] <@TheFatherMind> [13:19] <Wammy> herm, TheFatherMind what is it u sent me, ive read it now what?
-
[13:39] <@TheFatherMind> [13:19] <@TheFatherMind> Wammy do not just read it. Complete it.
-
[13:39] <@TheFatherMind> why do you make me repeat my self over and over?
-
Guests are not allowed to change Nick Names and MUST identify them selves
-
Explanation:
-
We must know who you are. Guests are NOT allowed to swap nicks. Once you choose a nick stick with it. If for some reason you MUST change your nick, you must always identify yourself when arriving in chat as who you are by your original chosen nick. If you do not follow this rule we will Ban you permanently.
-
Example:
-
[JohnDoe] Greetings.. I am really RapperDude353.
-
When we mute the channel you are not allowed to speak if we have taken your voice away. If you attempt to regain voice and speak before we remove the mute you will be banned. If you change your nick to send us cute little messages by changing your nick you will be banned.
-
Guests are not to cite rules or antagonize ANYONE: Other Guests, Members, or Admins.
-
If you see someone breaking the rules and it annoys you THAT much then discuss it in private with an Admin. Ultimately the response to the offense is up to the person you speak to about it and you must live with that.
-
Do not approach multiple people about the same issue without making it clear that you have addressed it with other people and who. We consider that "Sneaking Around".
-
You must speak the native language in language designated Channels. #Public is English
-
Example:
-
#Public.de is German
-
#Public.en is English, how ever if no Language is specified then Engrish is assumed. :)
-
Excessive swearing or cussing is not allowed in public channels.
-
Explanation:
-
We have filters that will take out some of the words. Just the same we do not enjoy seeing <censored> 5 times in a sentence. The filters are there to block the occasional slip.
-
#YouthClub Channel is for younger People who are under the age of 18
-
If you are younger then 18 you must also go into #YouthClub. If you are in #Public you must also be in #YouthClub. The only people who are exempt from this are those who have been told by an Admin that they do not need to be there. In the #YouthClub channel any thing goes as far as spamming and color. You may H00n that channel. Have fun.
-
NO Bots in our #Public Channels with out permission from the Founders FIRST.
-
We have had problems with bots in our Public/Support channels that try to do administrative tasks and also just plain annoying stuff. No bot is allowed in a D$M Public channel unless we okay it first. You may run bots in your own personal channels. If you run one in some one elses channel you need permission from the founder of that channel.
-
No conflicting trigger scripts in D$M Public/Support channels.
-
If you do not know what a trigger script is, then this does not affect you, move on to the next rule.
-
A good example of this is the "!seen" trigger. A person types "!seen username" and then our bot and 15 other people running the script reply. This can NOT happen. If we have a bot in the channel running a !seen script then no one else is allowed to. There will be NO exceptions to this.
